The
Big Charity Down winder is set to take place on the first windy weekend day in
September 2013. The plan is to set off from Hayling Island on the south coast
of England, where kite surfers will be kite
surfing down the coastline all the way until
reaching Lancing.
It has
been organized by UK charities and professional kite surfers to gain awareness
for the sport of and to raise much needed money for disadvantaged children from
snow camp, who give them the opportunity to try activities on the pastes in
Europe. The event is open to all kite surfers who are confident in the own
riding skills, novice riders are asked not to attend due to the safety risks.
If you are a novice kite surfer but want to be involved, far better to come
down and watch as a spectator and make a donation than risking a collision and
halting the event.
The
first two hundred and fifty kite surfers to complete the forty mile distance
will set a new world record. It is however optional if you wish to try and
cover the distance in one goes or make stops along the way at one of the
optional stop points.
The
event is set to be a smash and prizes include new kite surfing boards and kites
for winners of each category. Once you have finished your distance enjoy the
evening entertainment and awards ceremony, hosted by the Guinness World Record
crew.
